Rhode Island

Rhode Island is growing to become one of the best states in the country to install solar panels.

With over 75,000 homes powered by solar in RI and growing, Green Power Energy is now in place as a leader in Rhode Island solar.

In Rhode Island, homeowners can expect to save off their electric bill, collect the Federal Solar Tax Credit (ITC), be exempt from solar sales tax or property tax increases, and even take advantage of a generous state rebate. Green Power Energy offers the RE Growth Program to National Grid customers which is a performance based incentive (PBI) worth $.285/kWh of all system production for 15-years. The best part is that in Rhode Island, all these solar incentives can be yours for $0 down!

“Great. Couldn’t image it going any better. If there was a hiccup they were right here, the system just does its thing. It’s in place and I just forget about it. It’s on the back of the roof, when the small electric bill comes in I’m reminded. I’m not going around telling people to turn off lightbulbs anymore!”

Rhode Island Solar Incentives

RE Growth Program (National Grid Customers)

The RE Growth Program pays homeowners a fixed kWh rate for all of the electricity produced by their solar system for 15 years. This serves as a combination of a kWh performance based incentive (PBI) and net metering. For a 1-15 kW system, the rate is $.285/kWh. The monthly rebate amount depends on the net difference between the solar system production at $.285/kWh and the amount paid to the utility company for electricity.

Federal Solar Tax Credit (ITC)

The Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) is a dollar-for-dollar federal tax credit which reduces a person or business’ tax liability based on the amount they have invested in a solar energy project. The residential and commercial ITC are both worth 26% of a solar project’s cost though 2022. For example, a $10,000 solar electricity system will be eligible for a $2,600 federal tax credit. Customers that purchase or finance their system through a solar loan are eligible for this incentive.

How Much CO2 Do Residential Solar Panels Save in Connecticut?

Connecticut has witnessed impressive growth in solar power adoption over the past few years. Besides the financial benefits, the most important reason for Connecticut homeowners to go solar is environmental responsibility. They seek to reduce their carbon footprint and save the planet from worsening climate changes caused by excessive greenhouse gases produced by fossil fuels.
