COVID-19 has presented the world with an abundance of confusion – New Jersey is no exception. States and municipalities are doing their best to balance economic and health concerns. At Green Power Energy, we’re helping customers navigate through the confusion.
Governor Murphy’s Executive Order on Essential Business
Earlier this month New Jersey Governor, Phil Murphy, signed Executive Order No. 122, ceasing all non-essential construction projects and implementing additional guidelines to limit the spread of COVID-19.
“By ceasing all non-essential construction projects and imposing additional mitigation requirements on essential businesses, we are furthering our aggressive efforts to enforce social distancing and limiting our public interactions to only the most essential in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19,” said Governor Murphy.
So, are your plans to upgrade to solar considered essential? According to Governor Murphy’s order, they are essential and you may proceed with your upgrade. One passage from Executive Order No. 122 is especially relevant to Green Power Energy customers.
Here, the order states that “essential construction projects include the following: Projects already underway involving individual single-family homes, or an individual apartment unit where an individual already resides, with a construction crew of 5 or fewer individuals. This includes additions to single-family homes such as solar panels.”
Green Power Energy’s Safety Measures
In addition to adhering to state guidelines, customers can be assured that Green Power Energy is exceeding the minimum safety requirements.
During Governor Murphy’s press conference, he outlined safety precautions for the New Jerseyans to follow. Practices such as social distancing, wearing personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves, sanitizing all surfaces, and close health monitoring have all been implemented at Green Power Energy.
Fortunately, your upgrade to solar power will be minimally invasive. Some installation of your system can be done almost completely without entering the home. We will only enter the home when it is absolutely necessary. Our technicians will need to access your electrical panel, which is typically in the garage, basement, or outside the home.
For customers with indoor electrical panels, we’ve implemented protocols to minimize contact. While there are still many unknowns about COVID-19, we’re exercising caution in order to safely meet your needs.
New Green Power Energy Customers
As we’ve outlined, we’re following all of the guidelines in Executive Order No. 122. In fact, we’re going above and beyond safety protocols when it comes to outfitting your property with solar energy.
Many New Jerseyans will be happy to hear that they can move forward with their solar goals. New customers will be pleased to learn that in the purchasing process, we’ve moved to a virtual consultation.
